

He was a Vietnam Veteran and worked in orthopedic services in the United States Army. Alvin worked with Dr. Russell McKinley for several years and served Veterans ministries with Dave Roever and Lee Williams.
He was a member of Bethesda House of Mercy, the Honor Bound Men's Ministry, and served during Light for the Lost.
Alvin brought joy and laughter to many and was loved by everyone. He was a craftsman who enjoyed fishing and was a jack of all trades.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Henry and Keturah Thornton Richards; two uncles, James Thornton and Leroy Richards; and his mothers-in-law, Ann C. Mosier and Thelma McAdams.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Sarah Richards; two sons, James (Karen) Richards and Olin Richards (Megan); two grandchildren, Declan Richards and Skylar Richards; three siblings, Margaret Mathers, Ronnie (Linda) Richards, and Cathy Johnson; his father-in-law, Olin McAdams; his brothers-in-arms, Lee Williams and Bill Knot; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral is at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2024 at Bethesda House of Mercy in Elizabethtown.
Visitation will be on Friday, January 3rd from 5 to 7 p.m. and continue after 9:30 a.m. Saturday all at the church.
