Aurora Valverde Meza

It is with profound sadness and everlasting love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Aurora Meza (née Valverde), who left us peacefully on the morning of June 23, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born on January 3, 1938, in Rio Grande City, TX, she was the wife of Andres Anzaldua Meza (d. 2000) and the daughter of Carlos Ortegon Valverde Jr. (d. 1984) of Alice, TX, and Petra Martinez Valverde (d. 1985) of Houston, TX, and the stepdaughter of Aurora Valverde (d. 2016) of Alice, TX. Her siblings were Silvia Valverde (d. 1950), Eradio Valverde (d. 2016), and stepsister Sylvia Trejo of Alice, TX. She is survived by five children: Rachel Rivera (Robert Rivera), Lisa Meza and Jose Meza (Christie Meza) of Radcliff, KY, and Andres Meza Jr. and Rebecca Meza of Carpentersville, IL.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, she provided a lifetime of love, support, dedication, joy, and compassion to her family. She leaves behind a family forever strengthened by her beautiful example of devotion and love, and she will continue to comfort us with a lifetime of beautiful and special memories that will remain forever in our hearts.

A memorial visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home, 306 College Street, Elizabethtown, KY 42701, on July 11, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
