

She was born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky to the late Guy and Maggie Peak Bewley.
Barbara was a 1959 graduate of Elizabethtown High School and went on to further her education at Western Kentucky University, graduating in 1963. She dedicated her life to education and teaching school for 37 and a half years, with 35 of those years spent at Rineyville Elementary.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Barbara was deeply involved in her community. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and participated in the Rineyville Homemakers and the Cattleman's Association. For over 50 years, she was also a cherished member of the Rineyville Rowdies bunco group.
Barbara will be remembered for her unwavering faithfulness and her contributions to the lives she touched through her dedication to education and community service.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Jack Taylor; her parents; and two siblings, Carolyn Meals and Rick Bewley.
Survivors include three children, Julie Reynolds, Susie (Danny) Sherrard, and John (Cindy) Taylor; six grandchildren, Justin (Mercedes) King, Maggie Sherrard, Molly Sherrard, Jonathon (Kaylee Wright) Taylor, Jeremy (Ashley) Taylor, and Savannah (Zach) Esenbock; and five great-grandchildren, Tessa King, Miles King, Andi King, Makenzie Taylor, and Jack Taylor; one brother, Michael (Jennifer) Bewley; and many other family and friends.
The funeral mass is at 10 AM on Saturday, February 14, 2026 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church.
Burial follows in St. John Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 PM on Friday, February 13th at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown and continues after 9 AM Saturday at the church.
