

Charlene was born in Flint, Michigan, on November 12, 1929, to the late Ralph Ora Dickinson and Clara Schlosser Dickinson. She graduated from nursing school and spent her career caring for and helping others. Charlene worked most of her career at Hardin Memorial Hospital, currently known as Baptist Health Hardin. Following her retirement, she continued caring for others through volunteer work.
She enjoyed nature, camping in Michigan with family, and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charlene was a devoted member of First Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir for many years.
In addition to her parents, Charlene was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Leonard Knowles; a son, David Leonard Knowles; and a sister, Betty Jane Dickinson Wallace.
She is survived by her sons, Charles Arthur Knowles (Cindy) and Matthew Gordon Knowles (Paula); her daughter, Lisa Ann Knowles Priddy (Randy); grandsons Stewart Priddy, Andrew Knowles, Charlie Knowles, Cliff Knowles, and Evan Knowles; granddaughters Elizabeth Knowles, Paige Priddy Brigmon, Claire Priddy Weisman, and Anna Knowles; ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The family requests no flowers. Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 1016 Pear Orchard Road, Elizabethtown, KY 42701.
All services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, 1016 Pear Orchard Road, Elizabethtown, KY, on Friday, January 16, 2026. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, with the funeral service beginning at 12:00 noon at the church. The Reverend Chelsea Benham will officiate.
