
He was a native of Hardin County, was a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was the former Owner and Operator of Dairy Chef and Big T Truck Stop from 1974 until 1991 when he retired. He was a member of the American Legion Post #113, the 40-8 and VFW. He lived in Morningview Gardens for about 3 years before going to Sunrise Manor in Hodgenville.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Buster Welch; a son, Steven C. Welch and his parents, Edward and Ethel Durham Welch.
He is survived by two sons, Michael (Chiquita) Welch of Elizabethtown and David Welch of Lexington; one daughter, Sharon (Michael) Blankenship of Elizabethtown; six grandsons; two step grandsons, four great grandchildren and two step great great grandchildren.
A private funeral was held on Thursday at Brown Funeral Home with burial in Valley Creek Cemetery.
