Cynthia Jane Sodher

She was born in Albany, New York to the late Donald and Caryl Fifield Reynolds. Cynthia married her husband, Herbert Noel Sodher in June 27, 1964. Together they spent 59 wonderful years and had two daughters, Diane and Kristen.

Cynthia graduated from Granville (New York) High School in 1958 and received her Bachelor’s Degree at SUNY Albany College in 1962. Furthering her career at SUNY Albany in 1970, she achieved her Master’s Degree in Library Science. She worked as a Librarian in Saratoga Springs for Caroline Street Elementary School for several years.

She retired from the Office of Family and Children's Services at New York State after 40 years of service, working in many different departments throughout the years.

Cynthia was a longtime member of Presbyterian-New England Congregational Church in Saratoga Springs, where she was an elder of the church. Throughout her 40 years at church, she served in the women’s group and book club. She enjoyed reading, kayaking, traveling, nature, and her cats.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Sodher; her parents; and one sister, Betsy Reed.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane Sodher (Geoffrey Schaller) of Rahway, New Jersey and Kristen Fowler (David) of Elizabethtown, KY; one granddaughter, Abigail Fowler of Asheville, NC; two nieces, Caryl Cousins and Sabrina Reed; one nephew, Michael Reed; and one cousin, Ronald Willetts.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Presbyterian-New England Congregational Church (24 Circular Street, Saratoga Springs, NY 12866).
