He was born on July 13, 1976, in Louisville, Kentucky. Wade was a proud graduate of Elizabethtown High School, Class of 1994, and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Finance from Murray State University in 1999. Married to the love of his life Tiffany for 24 years, their love began over 32 years ago in high school. He was a devoted father to their three wonderful children: Dylan, Lilian, and Gavin, of whom he was incredibly proud.
Additionally, Wade is survived by his parents, Jim and Cathy Barnes, as well as his older brother Derek Barnes, his wife Amanda Barnes and younger brother Matt Barnes. He also leaves behind his in-laws, Willie and Kim Wood, brother-in-law Todd Wood, and seven cherished nieces and nephews: Alex, Allie, Maggie, Ann-Marie, Sara-Kate, Mia-Claire Barnes, and Ryder Wood.
As well as being a committed husband, father, son, and brother, Wade was a loyal friend whose life embodied kindness and humility. He will be remembered for his contagious smile and engaging personality. Wade was an exceptional high school athlete. As an adult, he remained active in local youth sports, formerly volunteering on the Elizabethtown Flames Board of Directors and serving as a Flames coach. He also spent time on the coaching staff of the Elizabethtown High School Panther boys’ soccer team. In recent years, his greatest joy was cheering on his children from the sidelines as they played soccer and lacrosse.
Wade found great happiness spending time on the water with his sons and father-in-law fishing. He also enjoyed vacationing with family and friends at his parents’ home in Siesta Key, Florida.
Until his very last days, Wade’s life remained constructive. He was actively involved in his community and served on the School Board for Elizabethtown Independent Schools. He was employed as the Controller at RBT Services Inc. and previously worked as a Sales Manager at Akebono. Wade was also a devoted University of Louisville Athletics fan, L's up!
A public celebration of Wade’s life will be held at St. James Catholic Church on Tuesday, September 3rd, from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM, with a Catholic Mass to follow.
An account has been set up for the children. Expressions of sympathy can be made at any Cecilian Bank location.
