

Darlene was born November 2, 1956, in Cleveland, Ohio to Richard Dale Kisner and Betty Jean O’Leary. She spent the early years of her child life in Litchfield, Ohio, on the Family Farm and early adult life working as a general sanitation worker for the H. W. Madison Company in Medina, Ohio. In February of 1977, Darlene met her husband, Michael Glenn Tomes, a co-worker and group leader at the same company. The two married on September 17th of that year and spent the next 47 years together. Darlene was a devoted mother of her children and grandmother to her four grandchildren. She was a devoted Girl & Boy Scout Leader and staff member for many years. She loved gardening and loved all animals; she was well known to be an animal lover to her family and friends and enjoyed their company. In 1982, Darlene relocated to the Hardin County area of Kentucky with her husband and children, husband working on Fort Knox for the Army Reserves and Darlene working at the Child Care Center in Elizabethtown.
Darlene was soft-spoken and had a gentle demeaner. She always made sure everyone was taken care of and having a good time. She loved flowers, gardening, and staying in touch with Family and Friends through social media and cell phone service. She loved her family dearly and every moment they spent together was exact place they wanted to be.
Darlene was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Betty Kisner, Mother-n-Law Thelma Mae Williams (Roylee, dec,) of Wooster, Ohio and Father-n-Law Lyle “Micky” Thomas Tomes (Barbara, dec,) of Akron, Ohio. Two sisters, Barbara Jean Kisner of Litchfield, Ohio and Judy Ann Hershberger (Donald, dec.) of Rittman, Ohio. Sister-n-Law Dixie Lee Etzwiler of Wooster, Ohio and Brother-n-Law Robert Earl Tomes of Wooster, Ohio; Brother-n-Law Wayne Barry Smith of Bealeton, Virginia and niece Michele “Micky” Louise Caine of Shreve, Ohio
She is survived by her husband, Michael Glenn Tomes; children Naomi Lynne Tomes of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, son Jeremy Michael Tomes (Suzette) of Schenectady, New York and William “Will” Harold Tomes of Buffalo, Kentucky; sisters Linda Dawn Young of Cleveland, Ohio and Mary Frances Smith of Bealeton, Virginia; Sister-n-Law Heidi Renee Imhoff (Ken) of Akron, Ohio and Sister-n-Law Melanie Jane Keene (Jesse) of Lodi, Ohio; Brother-n-Law Jerry Leroy Young of Cambridge, Ohio; Brother-n-Law Roy Lee Williams (Jenn) of Mount Veron, Ohio and Brother-n-Law Matthew Parker Williams of Lyman, South Carolina; and a very large extended Family.
Visitation is from 2 PM until 6 PM on Sunday, December 8th, at the Brown Funeral Home, 306 College Street in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. A service will be held on Monday, December 9th, at 11 AM at the funeral home.
Graveside service is at 12:30 PM on Monday, December 9th, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery-Central in Radcliff, Kentucky.
