

David Myles Richardson, 77, of Elizabethtown, KY, passed away on July 1, 2026. He was born on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 1948, in Oshkosh Wisconsin. A cheesehead until the end! He was a devoted husband to his wife Edie for 55 years and a loving father to his children, Rhonda and Neal. His joy was multiplied as a grandfather to Derek, Zeke, and Xander. He also leaves behind his brother, Mike, and sister, Debbie.
Dave dedicated over 45 years of his life to his career as a tax practitioner. Dave began his career at the age of 19 proudly serving his country through a tour in Vietnam, serving in Desert Storm, and retiring as a Major in the Army Reserves. The majority of Dave's military career he traveled nationwide competing against the other branches of service on the All-Army Reserve pistol team. In addition, his team conducted marksmanship training for new Army service members. After active duty, Dave began his civil service career in various roles at Ireland Army Hospital, retiring in 2004. His service was a testament to his deep love for his country.
Dave was a devout member of St. James Catholic Church where he often shared much of his time and talents.
An avid motorcyclist, Dave was a lifetime member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association where he and Edie were founding members and Directors of Chapter S in Elizabethtown. He continued to support the organization as a district trainer. Dave and Edie traveled all over United States and Canada on their motorcycle - including an adventure in Alaska. He is an honored member of the Kentucky Colonels. "Coach Dave" was a member of the Southern Indiana Rifle and Pistol Club where he used his years of experience to mentor and train new shooters. Among many other accomplishments, Dave was a 5-time Kentucky State Pistol Champion. His hobbies and community engagements were a big part of his life, reflecting his vibrant character and commitment to service. Along with his acts of service, these organizations allowed Dave to create many lifelong friendships. He deeply treasured many, many of these friendships even into his final days.
Services to honor Dave's life will be held at Brown Funeral Home with visitation on Monday, July 6th from 4 pm to 8 pm, and on Tuesday, July 7th from 12 pm until 2 pm, followed by the service at 2 pm. Burial will be at St. James Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Tunnel to Towers or any Veterans support organization, honoring Dave's legacy of service and care.
