

He was born on February 29, 1951, in Eastview, Kentucky, to the late Earl and Sylvia Helm Bruner.
Doug loved his wife and girls dearly. He enjoyed helping others and was a handyman. Doug loved UK Wildcat basketball and was a firm believer in God. He loved eating at Cracker Barrel and never met a stranger.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers and two sisters.
Doug is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jan Bruner of Elizabethtown; two daughters, Tonya (Scott) Johnson of Niceville, FL and Hope (Lee) Cunningham of Rineyville; five granddaughters, Ashleigh (Erik) Thompson, Shelby (Nik) Lennon, Alexis (Seth) Givan, Aubrey (Cole) Russell, and Autumn (Andrew) Ibarra; two great-granddaughters, Hannah and Maevy; and one great-grandson on the way.
The funeral is at 11 AM on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
Burial follows in Hardin Memorial Park.
Visitation will begin on Friday, July 4th from 12 PM Noon to 4 PM and continue after 9 AM Saturday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Brown Funeral Home for Doug’s burial expenses.
