Winnie was a woman of many talents and passions. She had a band that won Florida State Band of the Year and had the honor of singing the national anthem for the FLW Tour at Lake Okeechobee. She also performed in Nashville and was the Administrative Assistant and Bartender at the world-famous Roland Martin Marina and Tiki Bar in Clewiston, Florida. Winnie was a past member of the Clewiston, Florida Elks Lodge and the Moore Haven Eagles Club. Along with her husband Michael, she co-owned General Construction and Property Ventures.
Winnie spent 17 years traveling the country with Michael, first for work in the pulp and paper industry and later in the construction of cement plants and paper mills. While family time was sometimes limited due to travel, she cherished every moment with her loved ones. Honesty was her motto, and she loved life and all of God’s creations. Her love for animals, especially horses, and the beach were some of her greatest joys.
She was preceded in passing by her parents, Edward and Ester Doyle; brothers, Robert "Bobby" Dorton and Roger Dorton; and sisters, Shelia Tackett, Joyce Ellish, and Patricia Collins.
Winnie is survived by her loving husband, Michael A. Atteberry; son, David Anderson (Jacquelyn); bonus children, Anthony Atteberry (Lindsey) and Tabatha Meredith; and eight grandchildren, Ashleigh Maureen, Ava Rene, Abigail Lynn, Lily, Levi, Hollisten, Korbin, and Mason.
