He was born in Norfolk County, Virginia to the late Arland and Harriet Ewell Rogers.
He resided in Arizona where he served in the U.S. Air Force and Arizona Air National Guard. Rufus retired from IBM in Arizona, where he was a Computer Network Analyst. He was a Professor at the University of Phoenix and enjoyed computers and video game playing. He also enjoyed bluegrass music, where he played guitar, banjo, and mandolin.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Phyllis Rogers McHenry.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Phyllis Herron Rogers of Elizabethtown; one son, Jason Rogers (Willow Duggan); and four siblings, Garry Rogers, Jimmy Rogers, Cynthia Rogers Johnson, and Bruce Rogers.
A graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery in Radcliff.
