Erika Wood

Erika Wood, 86, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed away on March 20, 2026. Born August 8, 1939, Erika lived a life marked by steadfast faith and a deep commitment to sharing God’s love with everyone she encountered. Erika will be remembered as a devoted, compassionate woman whose presence brought comfort, encouragement, and purpose to those around her.

Her life was a living testimony of faith, and she touched countless lives through her words, her handing out of “God’s Love Letter” to everyone she met, and her compassion for making sure others knew Jesus. Whether speaking with family, friends, or even strangers, she never missed an opportunity to witness, encourage, and remind others of God’s love and grace.

Erika was preceded in passing by her parents, Elfriede and Peter Schwan; and sons, Andy and Eddie Wood.

She is survived by her son, Bill Wood (Anna); brothers, Juergen Schwan and Peter Schwan (Wanda); grandchildren, Misty Wood, Taylor Wood (Madeline), Lexie Wood, Miranda Smallwood (Dylan), and Chris Smallwood (Kayla); 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home, 306 College St., Elizabethtown, Kentucky 42701, on March 24, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be held at Brown Funeral Home, 306 College St., Elizabethtown, Kentucky 42701, on March 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. She will be laid to rest at Hardin Memorial Park following the service.
