Harlan Dane Funkhouser

Harlan Dane Funkhouser, 96, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, was born July 5, 1930, in Vigo County, Indiana, and died September 28, 2026. He will be remembered as a beloved presence in the lives of those who knew him.  

Mr. Funkhouser served in the Army for 20 years and was a Vietnam veteran. After his military service, he worked at the U.S. Post Office for 20 years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Orndaph & Fern Funkhouser; two brothers, Edwin Funkhouser and Clint Funkhouser; and two sisters, Marie Fagg and Ruth Fagg.  

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Funkhouser; two sons, Lloyd Funkhouser and James Funkhouser; one daughter, Margitta Knight; five grandchildren, Julie Myers, Derek Funkhouser, Tawnya Sandoval, Donnie McCorkle, and Billy Knight; nine great-grandchildren, Jordan Lamonda, Shaun Lamonda, Maressa Myers, Pablo Renovato, Marco Rivera, Ariana Rivera, Jose Rivera, Jesus Sandoval, and Amado Sandoval; two great-great-grandchildren, Pablo Renovato Jr and Elio Rivera; a brother Clayton Funkhouser; and a sister Joy Slavens.  

A Graveside Service will be held at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens, on October 2, 2026, at 1:00 pm.
