Harold Wesley “Wes” Priddy, 69, of Elizabethtown, KY, passed away early Wednesday morning, October 28, 2026, at 3:55 a.m., surrounded by the family he loved. He made people laugh right up until the very end.
Wes was born in Munfordville, Kentucky, to Harold and Belva Priddy. He graduated from East Hardin High School in 1975 and began his career as a mechanic at Volkswagen. Around 1978, he joined his father at Same Day Watch Repair, where he was trained as a watchmaker, later continuing his education through watchmaking courses and training as a bench jeweler. He eventually renamed the business Priddy Jewelers. Years later, he trained his friend and co-worker Mike Moats, who worked beside him for 29 years as the bench jeweler until his passing earlier this year.
For 48 years, Wes faithfully served the Elizabethtown community. To his customers, he was a man of his word, and people knew they could trust him with their most prized possessions. He loved his work and was proud to carry on his dad’s legacy. He is now passing that legacy to his daughters, Dawn and Carla.
Above all, Wes was an extremely loving husband and father. He was always there for his wife and children, and his loyalty to his family and friends never wavered.
Those who knew Wes will tell you he was gentle, loyal, and generous to everyone he met. People came to him for different reasons: customers for his honesty, and friends and family for a kind word, a listening ear, or the truth spoken in love. He was never one to seek the spotlight. He was often reserved, content to sit back and listen, but just when you least expected it, he would jump in with a witty dad joke and have everyone laughing.
His generosity was constant and often quiet. He once spent considerable time and money restoring a car, only to donate it to a church auction. When a customer was in need of money, he would often buy something from them, even if he had no plans to sell it. He took Hebrews 13:2 to heart (“do not forget to show hospitality to strangers”) and gave to people as though he were giving to God himself.
Wes was a member of Grace Heartland Church for many years and more recently attended Southeast Christian Church. He loved riding with the Goldwing motorcycle group for 20 years. He also enjoyed traveling in the RV and fixing up old cars and pocket watches, but nothing compared to time with his family. He never missed a chance to cheer on his grandchildren at their games, support their fundraisers, or remind them, “All my grandchildren are good-looking. There are no duds.”
Wes is survived by his wife, Sheree Lynn (Lawson) Priddy; his children, Carla Taul, Cathy Varughese (Alvin), Ben Priddy (Stephanie), Lauren Pace (Brennan), and Dawn Moore (Connor); his grandchildren, Kendra, Lillie, Gage, Haven, Jayden, Riley, Asher, Reagan, Aspen, and Abigail; and his siblings, Judy Hart, Karen Killensworth (Peanut), and Connie Bee (Carl). He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Belva Priddy.
The funeral service will be held at Valley Creek Baptist Church, 4685 Springfield Rd, Elizabethtown, KY, on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 12:00 pm Noon, with Steve Lawson officiating.
Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens, 3817 Leitchfield Rd, Cecilia.
