

Pleasant Grove area of Bullitt county. She was a native of Hardin County.
She was preceded by her parents, Elven and Hazel Grey Campbell; one brother, Gerald
Campbell and a sister, Reba (David) Heath and aunt Gladys Grey Campbell.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Robert Lee Johnson, Sr.; three sons,
Robert Lee (Debbie) Johnson, Jr. of TN, Michael Campbell Johnson of CO and Thomas
Christopher Johnson of Shepherdsville; two daughters, Peggy (Randy) Schaffer of IN
and Shirlea (John) Pemberton of VA; brother Russell (Juanita) Campbell of Garfield; a
sister-in-law, Judy Campbell of Summit; grandchildren, Amanda & Kyle (Tiahra)
Johnson of TN and Travis Johnson of AL: step grandchildren Casey Schaffer of IN and
Meredith Boyles & Sarah Berkeland of CO and great grandchildren, Amelia and Kolby
Johnson as well as step-grandchildren Braden & Brynlea Babcock & Wenonah
Campbell as well as Katelyn Myers & Lisbeth Berkeland. She is also survived by aunt
Alberta Nelson of Elizabethtown, as well as many loved nieces, nephews and cousins.
Helen was a graduate of Lynvale High School and Spencerian Business School.
Helen was a former member of Preston Highway United Methodist Church and Cooper
Chapel United Methodist Church as well as a Girl Scout leader for over 5 years. A
loving wife and mother, she was also an avid flower gardener and nature lover. She
loved to cook for her family. A prolific reader all her life, she was also a dedicated writer
of letters to her children, family and friends.
Due to COVID-19 regulations, a private graveside service for immediate family will be
held at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens on Friday, May 15th. A Memorial Service will
be held at a later date. Condolences can be left at

donations to be made to the Nature Conservancy and the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
