
He was a native of Hardin County and a member of Valley Creek Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war and was a bronze star recipient. He retired from General Electric and was a Farmer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Obie and Mary Bridgette Hinton; one son, Charles W. "Chuck" Hinton; one brother, Paul Hinton and three sisters, Catherine Sanders, Icye Cartwright and Bea Bullock.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Thelma Adams Hinton; one son; Rick (Lisa) Hinton of Elizabethtown; 2 daughters, Cathy Hinton of Elizabethtown and Katrina (Kevin) Thomas of Hodgenville; one brother; Charles Hinton of Elizabethtown; two sisters, Mary Johnson of Alabama and Dora Cartwright Shipley of Lebanon Junction, 8 grandchildren, Kelli Hinton Hart (Matt), MiRanda Helminick (Jayme), Deaven Alexander Thomas, Jarrod Taylor Hinton, Chelsea Renee Hinton, Austin Trent Hinton, Josh French (Angel) and Luke French and 6 great grandchldren, Mason Hart, Grant Hart, Karson Helminick, Raylan Helminick, Phillip French and Alexandria French.
The funeral will be Saturday at 11:00 am at Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Kerr officiating.
Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:00-8:00 pm and continue after 9:00 am Saturday at the funeral home.
