It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of James Daniel Wallace, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend. He departed this world on May 28, 2025, in Louisville, Kentucky, at the age of 74, due to complications from a medical condition.
James was preceded in death by his first wife, Phyllis Gayle Wallace, who passed away in 2000, and by his parents, James C. and Elsie D. Wallace. He was also preceded by his great-grandchildren, Arriah Calloway and Eli Cromer. His legacy of love and laughter will carry on through those he leaves behind: his devoted wife, Lina’ H. Wallace, whom he married in 2018; his three children, James, Melissa, and Michael Wallace; and his daughter-in-laws, Diane and Shelley. James is also survived by his loving siblings, Brenda Nelson and Carol Alderman, an ex-wife, Deborah Gray, as well as his adored grandchildren, Alyssia, Heather, Nena, Marissa, Shawn, and Tyler, and his great-grandchildren, Landon, Peyton, Randilynn, Addi, Damien, Gunner, and Emma.
A graduate of East Hardin High School, James furthered his education at International Seminary, earning a PhD in Theology. His career was as diverse as it was impactful. He spent many years in various management positions at Lowe's Home Improvements, where he was recognized with multiple sales and customer service awards. In the mid-80s, he began his journey as a minister, founding the Calvary Mission Church and Christian School with the support of family and friends. James later pastored at Cornerstone Church of God, where he felt most at home behind the pulpit, sharing his love for preaching and singing.
James had a heart for youth and worked as a counselor for troubled teens and also Foster parent, finding joy and purpose in helping others navigate their challenges. He also served as a bus driver for Hardin County Schools, where he enjoyed the opportunity to interact with students and share knowledge.
He was an active member of Victory Life Fellowship, where he became known for his warm smile and quick wit, always ready with a joke to put others at ease. His firm but fair approach made him a beloved figure among friends and family, as he always sought out moments to teach and inspire.
In his free time, James loved to immerse himself in the great outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing, camping, boating, or golfing. These pursuits were not just hobbies for him; they were opportunities to create lasting memories with his family and friends.
