

Alice “Jana’ ” Gore, a woman of deep faith and tireless energy, passed away peacefully July 1, 2026, surrounded by family, at her home in Elizabethtown at the age of 87. Born July 30, 1938, in Campbellsville, KY, Jana’ was a ground breaker when she struck out from Taylor County High School and the family farm to pursue higher education, attending Campbellsville University for 2 years, where she was also a cheerleader, continuing her education at Georgetown College, graduating Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology in 1960. After completing her college education, she began working as a lab technician and entered into a devoted 62-year marriage with her husband, Dr. Lewis Campbell “Johnny” Gore. She built a home, raised four children and contributed selflessly to her church and community.
She was a longtime, active member of Severns Valley Baptist Church, Elizabethtown Women’s Club, Garden Club of Elizabethtown, and served on the governing boards of Campbellsville University and Severns Valley Baptist Church. She enjoyed UK basketball and football, butterflies, hummingbirds, gardening, skilled seamstress and spending time and cooking for her family and friends. Jana’ was a Master Gardener who won countless blue ribbons at the Hardin County Fair for floral arrangements created from her own garden.
Jana’ was preceded in death by her parents, Jefferson and Otha Reynolds; her beloved husband, Johnny; and her great grandson, Baby Agape Benz.
She is survived by three siblings: Gloria Deener, Carolyn (Amel) Baker and Ben (Sharon) Reynolds; four children: Pam (Dan) Seats of Santa Fe, NM; Dr. Patty (Dr. Larry) Benz of Sarasota, FL and Cyndi (Jeff) Frodge of Maysville, KY and Dr. Jim Gore (Dr. Stacy) of Nashville, TN; nine grandchildren: Dr. Allison Seats, Rachel Seats, Camp Seats, Aaron Benz, Jonathan Benz, Lauren Benz, Dr. Jordan Frodge, Elena Gore, and Stephen Gore; and five great-grandchildren: Levi, Johnny, and Valora Benz, Elliott Barnett, and Buck Bailey.
The funeral will be Tuesday, July 7, 11:00 AM at Brown Funeral Home with Dr. Matt Beasley officiating. A livestream of the service may be viewed at https://client.tribucast.com/tcid/c26075654335533 . Burial will follow in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at the funeral home and on Tuesday from 10:00 AM until time for service.
