John was a proud American and United States Marine. He served during the Vietnam War as a Medevac Operator, helping evacuate wounded servicemen from the battlefield. He was awarded two Purple Hearts, along with numerous other military honors. He also served in the National Guard.
He was a man who understood duty, sacrifice, and the value of a life. His greatest pride was his family. He worked tirelessly to provide for those he loved and retired from Gates Rubber Company.
His life was an example of strength and faith through uncertainty, and love throughout every season. He answered his country's call, stood strong in his faith, and loved his family with his whole heart. His work here is done, but the love and the example he set will live in our hearts.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth "Libby" Ann Bigler; one son, Timothy Alan Bigler; his parents, Paul Beverage Bigler and Olga Jean King; a brother, James Tony Blalock; and a sister, Hazel Jean Bunch.
John is survived by three sons, John Paul Bigler Jr., Steven Bigler, and Clint Bigler; three daughters, Sabrina Bigler, Tammy Ann Huff, and Mary Grace Bigler Parker; 18 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Bonnie De Vore, Lynn Sims, Vickie Payne, and Rose Blalock.
