He was born in Plattsburgh, New York, and was a member of Pole Bridge Baptist Church. He served in the United States Army and was a retired truck driver.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Daisy Cundiff.
He is survived by his wife, Gay Waters; two sons, John Harrison Powell, Jr. of Cecilia and Randy Wade Rudolph of Florida; two daughters, Michelle Salyers of Cecilia and Cindi Lou Waters of Eastview; two sisters, Dianna (Ken) Hargrove of Madisonville and Charlotte (Bill) Hudson of Hardin Springs; one grandson and two granddaughters.
A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff with Bro. Bill Felker officiating.
