
He was a native of Hardin County, served in the U.S. Marines during WWII and was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church where he was in the Comrade Sunday School Class. He was a lifetime member of the DAV and retired from Ft. Knox Civil Service after 27 years.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret Frances Sherrard; a son, Michael J. Sherrard; his parents, Singleton and Edith Lutz Sherrard; his step mother, Mae Sherrard and two step brothers, Glen Smith and Aubrey Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Biesemeister Sherrard; one daughter, Nancy Sherrard Peggs of Lexington; one grandson, John Michael Sherrard and a great grandson, Jaylin Sherrard.
A Graveside service will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at Hardin Memorial Park with Rev. John Vaught, Dr. Rachel Marshall and Rev. Neil Vanes officiating.
