Jonathan James Grinnalds was born April 30, 1987, and passed away June 17, 2026, at the age of 39. He grew up in Mt. Washington, Kentucky but his adult years resided in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Jonathan will be remembered with deep respect and lasting affection by all who knew him.
Jonathan worked for Barton’s Distillery, where he was known as a very caring co-worker that was genuinely valued and loved to talk to everyone. He will be remembered for the joy he brought to others, making work feel lighter and brighter with his humor, laughter, and unforgettable jokes.
Jonathan was preceded in death by his father, Guy Kent Grinnalds; his grandfathers, Robert Age and Dixie Grinnalds; and his grandmother, Marlym Stamper.
Above all, Jonathan loved his children and family. He is survived by his three children, Haleigh Grinnalds, Colton Grinnalds, and Leeanna Grinnalds, and by the mother of their children, Alexandra Bennett. He is also survived by his mother, Elizabeth Grinnalds Greer (Sonny), sister Ashley Kellogg (Jordon), and his nephews Jacob and Zachary Kellogg, sister Rachel Eason and brother Elijah Wantye, as well as, other family members and friends.
In the everyday moments, Jonathan’s warmth and giving spirit shone through. He was a die-hard University of Louisville fan, loved to fish, enjoyed being on the lake, watching sports and enjoyed campfires—especially making s’mores with his children. When the weather was right, he wanted to build a campfire, turning ordinary evenings into time together that will now be held close in memory. He also cherished watching wrestling with his daughter, Haleigh, a simple tradition that spoke to how present he was in the lives of those he loved.
Those closest to Jonathan knew him as someone who would take the shirt off his own back for others—caring, kind, and generous, with a heart that made room for many. He was a giver who tried to help all, and he took joy in buying gifts for his children and nephews, not for recognition, but because it was part of how he expressed love.
He will always be remembered as a good father who loved his children, a loving son and brother and as a man who had the biggest heart with a sense of humor that will leave a forever lasting mark.
