Karen Sue Deaton Rizer

She was a native of Hazard, KY and was the retired owner and operator of Dairy Queen in Elizabethtown. Karen volunteered at the Humane Society for many years and loved spending time with her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Lee Rizer; her parents, Melvin D. and Polly Smith Deaton and a brother, Rod Deaton.

Survivors include her children, Brian Bailey, Pat Bailey and Amber Bailey Grimm (Jason) all of Elizabethtown; two step-children, Julie Rizer Marr (Dennis) of TN and John (Dawn) Rizer of Elizabethtown; her siblings, Mel Deaton, Jeff Deaton and Denise Deaton; her great-grandchildren, Christian, Ryne, Preston, Skyler, Isabella, Eli, Kira, Emma and Braxton and a great-grandchild, Wrenlee.

Following Karen's wishes, cremation with no services was chosen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elizabethtown Animal Shelter in her memory.
