Larry Dean Coffman

Larry Dean Coffman, 82, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, passed away on September 11, 2026 after a short illness, at Baptist Health Hardin.

Larry was born February 16, 1944, in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, to Harold and Beatrice Gardner Coffman. He graduated from Cub Run High School.

Larry was a retired truck driver and worked for Matlock Trucking for the last 15 years of his career. He took pride in his meticulous logbooks and enjoyed the years he spent on the road.

Larry had a lifelong passion for fast cars, drag racing, anything chocolate, and the Kentucky Wildcats. He owned and raced several cars throughout the years and loved talking about them. He was also a devoted NASCAR fan and enjoyed following the sport and its drivers.

Larry was a member of the Bullitt County Rod & Gun Club and The American Legion.

He is survived by his children, Brent (Sabrina) Coffman, Dawn (Chuck) McIntyre, and Dustin Coffman; five grandchildren, Jenna (Evan) Neises, Jordan (Ethan) White, Lexie Coffman, Morgan Coffman, and Clay Coffman; and three great-grandsons, Noah, Luke, and Connor.

Also surviving is his former wife, Joyce Coffman, who provided Larry with extraordinary care and support throughout the past 5 years while in assisted living. Though they had been divorced for 52 years and things weren't always easy, her dedication and care for him were unwavering. She never let him run out of Cokes or Hershey candy bars!

He was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife, Sharon Gould Coffman. She loved him through every season of life, embracing him with patience, compassion, and a love that remained steadfast through both his strengths and his faults.

Larry will be remembered for his independent spirit, sense of humor, his love of racing and cars, his appreciation for NASCAR, and the many stories and memories created throughout his 82 years.

Keeping with Larry’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral service. Instead, we invite friends and family to join us for a casual gathering to share stories, honor his memory, and support one another.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 16th, 2026 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown beginning at 4:00pm EST until 7:00pm EST.
