Born in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, on October 8, 1946, to the late James K. V. Hinton and Olivia M. J. Stoner, she married Curtis Carroll White at Escatawpa Baptist Church in 1968.
Leslie graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1967 and spent many years in the professional world. However, her greatest joy was her family, and her favorite pastime was working in her yard. She would spend hours planting flowers, pulling weeds, and picking up sticks. It was in these moments that she felt closest to her Creator.
In her early 30's, Leslie publicly professed her faith in Jesus Christ by baptism at Inter-City Baptist Church in Allen Park, Michigan. In a later interview, she expressed the hope that others would "know that she's a Christian" by the way she lived her life. We will always remember Leslie for her faith, her laugh, and her servant's heart.
She is survived by her husband; sister, Voncile Thomas, her husband, Robert, and their daughter, Beth Thomas; son, Curtis Carroll White Jr. and his wife, Danielle; daughter, Kelley Elizabeth Broecker and her husband, Doug; and four grandchildren, Olivia Jane Rose and her husband, Garrett, Lauren Renee White, Tyler Davis Broecker, and Katherine Elizabeth Broecker.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Cecilia Baptist Church with a service immediately following.
A private burial will be held at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central in Radcliff, Kentucky.
