Margaret Pittman Galloway, 93, went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, October 26, 2025. Margaret was born on October 2, 1932, in Dry Creek, Beauregard Parish, Louisiana. Her parents were John Iley Pittman and Minnie Alpha Cochran Pittman. The family moved to Jefferson County, Texas, when she was very young.
Margaret became a believer in the Lord Jesus at a young age. She graduated near the top of her class from Beaumont High School in Beaumont, TX, in 1950, and briefly attended Lamar College of Technology (now Lamar University) in Beaumont.
Margaret married Noel Ernest Galloway, Jr., in Beaumont on September 15, 1951. They were married for 62 years until his death in May, 2014. Noel was in the US Naval Air Force, so they were stationed in Jacksonville, Florida, Memphis, Tennessee, and Corpus Christi, Texas during the Korean Conflict. They later settled in Beaumont to raise their family. In June, 1972, the family moved to Minooka, Illinois, due to Noel being transferred by Mobil Oil. Margaret and Noel moved to Elizabethtown, Kentucky, in 1987, after his retirement from Mobil.
Margaret and Noel were both very active in church life, both teaching Sunday School and singing in the choir wherever they were going to church at the time. Margaret served for at least three different churches in three different states as the Financial Secretary/Treasurer, the last of these being Tunnel Hill Baptist Church in Elizabethtown, where she and Noel served faithfully until they were called home. Margaret was also the Secretary/Treasurer for Independent Home Inspection, Noel’s company. She was a great cook, seamstress, knitter, and gardener. She was also a caregiver, taking care of her son, Dan, for the last 18 years of her life.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Noel, and her sisters: Ruth (Clifford) Young and Bernice (Freddie) McWilliams. She is survived by her daughter, Virginia Galloway of Houston, TX, and her four sons: Carl (Pat) Galloway of Austin, TX, Joe (Claudia) Galloway of Radcliff, Dan Galloway of Elizabethtown, and Pat (Vivian) Galloway of Louisville; her grandchildren: Beth Galloway of Louisville, Lydia (James) Miller of Minneapolis, MN, John and James Galloway of Austin, TX, Claudia (Randy) Black of Elizabethtown, Carlos Carrillo-Nava of Radcliff, Jenny Burnett of Louisville, and Paula (Jodeci) Duvall of Louisville; and her great-grandchildren: Addison, John Logan, Eli, and Asher. She also claimed Brandon, Brittany, Rachel, and Alli as grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews on both sides of the family.
Cremation was chosen. A celebration of her life will be held at Tunnel Hill Baptist Church in a few weeks, at the convenience of the distant family members.
