Martha Carolyn Harned McGrew,100, of Elizabethtown, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus on November 16, 2025. Born in Big Clifty, Kentucky on June 22, 1925, she was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Goldia Harned; her brother, Victor Harned; Sons-in-law Bobby Skaggs and Larry Cheatham; nephew Bobby Harned; niece Martha Ann McGrew and her loving husband of 68 years, Omar Lee McGrew. She was an active member of Severns Valley Baptist Church and a 75-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Most important in her life was her relationship with God and her family. Loved deeply by her family, she was their number one prayer warrior. Her favorite thing was to feed her family and friends pies, yeast rolls, and biscuits made from scratch and love. Martha is survived by her four daughters, Bonnie Cheatham, Cathy Tuck (Jim), Patty Holleran (Jeff) and Peggy McGrew; nine grandchildren, Tim Skaggs (Taylor), William Cheatham, Hollye Hornsby (Justin), Kimberly Rhyne (Sonny), Christy Catron (Ronnie), Eric Meredith (Susan), Deadra Shindler (Ricky), Scott Tuck (Karen), and Sean Holleran, Lucas Murley; eighteen great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her eight special nieces and nephews; her loving caregiver of six years, Ruth Arsenault; and many special friends. The family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the caring staff of Hosparus Health of Central Kentucky.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 21, 11:00 A.M. at Severns Valley Baptist Church, in the upper chapel, 1100 Ring Road, Elizabethtown, KY 42701, officiated by Evangelist Sonny Rhyne and Pastor Justin Hornsby. Burial will follow at Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will take place Thursday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Brown Funeral Home, 306 College Street, Elizabethtown, and again Friday morning at Severns Valley from 10:00 A.M until the time of service.
