He was born on November 12, 1934 in Big Springs, Kentucky to the late Louis and Beulah Young Compton.
Marvin was a member of Hudson Community Church and retired from The Marley Cooling Tower Company. He was involved in the senior citizens group at the church and The Cecilian Bank. Marvin was a member of the Modern Woodmen of America and sang in several gospel groups, including Heavenly Echos, Hudson Five, The Gospel Travelers, and Called Out.
Through the years, Marvin drove a truck for Harry Owens and other companies. He loved the outdoors, especially fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Roberta Spatz and Loretta Payne.
Survivors include his loving wife of 20 years, Arlene Emberton Ramsey; one son, Danny Louis Compton and his wife, Tracy; two daughters, Debra Lynn Woolett and her husband, Don and Tammy Sharoon; one sister, Sherry Nelson and her husband, Raymond; seven grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson.
The funeral is at 11 am EDT on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown with Pastor Jimmy McIntosh officiating.
Burial follows in Elizabethtown Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday, September 11th from 4 to 8 pm EDT and continues after 9 am EDT Friday until the time of service at the funeral home.
