Mary Jane Vowels

Mary deeply loved her sons, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. In her spare time she would tend to her garden and read, finding joy and peace in these activities.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Nanny Elizabeth Lewis; her beloved husband, Carrell Vowels; and her brothers, Stewart Lewis, Paul Lewis, and Bobby Lewis.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Tim Vowels (Teresa), David Vowels (Pam), and Jamie Vowels (Jennifer); grandchildren, Amanda Rogers (Josh), Tara Vowels (Robert Duvall), Matthew Vowels, Erica Covell (Ben), Kim Booker (Scott), Cassie Morris (Caleb), Justin Vowels (Whitney Clater), Jolene Ortkiese, Mason Critchelow (Sienna), Mary Beth New (David), and Ruthie Critchelow; great-grandchildren, Morgan Moore (Cody), Connor Booker, Kendall Rogers, Waylon Critchelow, Winston Critchelow, Layla New, Hannah Covell, Hunter Covell, Maverick Covell; great-great-grandchild, Riley Moore; sister, Anna Ruth Nichols; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss her dearly.

Visitation will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 4pm - 8pm at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Visitation will resume on Tuesday morning from 9am - 11am, with the Funeral Service at 11am. Burial is to follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Central. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made out to Hosparus of Kentucky.
