She was a native of Hardin County and graduated from Elizabethtown High School. She was a member of Franklin Crossroads Baptist Church and worked as a cashier for Houchens and Jones IGA.
Phyllis will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and great-grandmother who cared for others in the ordinary moments that make a life meaningful.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Denny Smallwood and Helen Jackson; brothers, Howard Smallwood and Jerry Smallwood; her sister, Alice Duett and two great-granddaughters, Harper and Reese Leasor.
Phyllis is survived by two sons, Denny Harrell (Kari) and Steve Harrell (Becky); brother, Tommy Smallwood (Eula); sisters, Sandy Wing (Lonnie) and Brenda Downs; grandchildren, Josh Harrell (Samantha), Tonya Leasor (J.T.), and Kyle Harrell; great-grandchildren, Briley and Cole Harrell, Noah, Wyatt, Rhett and Tate Leasor and Lauren and Connor Harrell and the father of her children, Carl Harrell.
The funeral will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Brown Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in Howevalley Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10 to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
The family requests those in attendance wear casual clothing.
