Reginald Lee VanMeter went home on Wednesday June 18, 2025, after 97-years of life well lived. A humble man of strong faith, whose ‘north star’ and constant focus was God and his family. A quiet, soft-spoken man, who led primarily through example. When he did speak his words carried enormous weight. A textbook role model for those fortunate enough to know him.
As a life-long member of Memorial Methodist Church (joining at age 16), he spent many years singing in the Choir, and held the honor of the oldest living member at the time of his passing.
Reg was preceded in death by his first love Patricia (Devy) VanMeter, and his loving daughter Lennie (VanMeter) Roberts. He is survived by his wife of 30-years Martha (Rickett) VanMeter, daughter Carol (Steve) Peters and son David (Lisa) VanMeter, as well as grandchildren Matt (Stephanie) Roberts, Jared Roberts, Jacob (Jordan) Goodman, Chris (Whitney) VanMeter, and Kelly (Brian) Vaughn. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Kai & Mia Roberts, Josie Lennie Goodman, Ava & Ty VanMeter, Bryce & Blake Vaughn, as well as a host of beloved nieces and nephews.
The VanMeter family would like to express our deepest gratitude to the caregivers who helped to provide comfort, friendship, and compassion in Reggie’s final months; Toni Tuttle-Mata, Jo Dale Anderson, and Antonia Caudill, along with Hosparus Health Central Kentucky.
Visitation will be Saturday June 28, 2025 at Memorial Methodist Church from 9:30am-Noon, funeral at noon, and burial at Hardin Memorial Park following the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Memorial Methodist Church, Hosparus, or the charity of your choice.
