He was born on October 30, 1940, in Louisville, KY, the son of William Joseph Davis and Louise Elizabeth Stifel.
Richard was a retired truck driver for Smith’s Transfer, as well as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He spent his life caring for others. At a young age, he faced an illness that left him with physical and speech impairments, but those challenges never stopped him from living a full and meaningful life. He attended the New River Worship Center and Victory Life Fellowship Church. He enjoyed listening to gospel music.
At the age of 20, Richard married Alverda Vincent Davis and embraced the responsibility of raising her four children before they welcomed two children of their own. He worked tirelessly, sometimes seven days a week, to provide for his family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Louise Davis; his sister, Kitty Walden; his wife, Alverda Vincent Davis; his son, Kenny Vincent; and his great-grandson, Colton Blain.
Richard is survived by his wife, Sharon Jenkins Davis; his son, William (Melinda) Davis; daughters Lavetta (David) Blain, Judy Warner, Patty Bailey, Alisa Russell; and daughter-in-law Sharon Vincent. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, January 27th, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday January 28th from 10:00 a.m. till time for the funeral service at 12:00 Noon at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown, KY. Burial will in the Walnut Hill Cemetery in Leitchfield, KY.
In lieu of flowers, the donations may be made to Kosairs Children's Hospital in his memory.
