

He was born on March 2, 1939 in Cincinnati, Ohio to the late Jerome and Genevieve Grimm Fries. Roger was one of eight children.
Roger was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church and had a strong faith in God and family.
He was a carpenter by trade for 41 years and upon his retirement, Roger became a farmer. He loved his farm and all of the hard work that came with it. He raised chickens, ducks, donkeys, and cows.
Roger was a lover of nature, enjoyed beekeeping, and was an avid bird watcher. He tended to his large garden, filled with vegetables and flowers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 53 years, JoAnn Carr Fries; and two brothers, David and Jerry Fries.
Survivors include one son, Roger Fries, Jr. and his wife, Kathy; one daughter, Amy Fries; one brother, Alan Fries; four sisters, Pat Fehn, Jackie Gloeckner, Judy Schmidt, and Nancy Beimesche; two grandchildren, Andrew Fries and Paige Pfeffer; and one great-granddaughter, Evelyn.
The funeral mass will be at 11 AM on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church.
Burial follows in St. Ignatius Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 9:30 AM on Tuesday and continues until the time of service at the church.
