With profound sadness and immense love, we announce the passing of Roger Dale Sherrard, who entered into eternal rest at the age of 74.
Born on April 14, 1952, Roger was a man of quiet strength, unwavering determination, and a heart that loved deeply. He lived his life with resilience, kindness, and a deep appreciation for the simple things that brought him joy.
Roger’s love for horses was one of his greatest passions. They brought him peace, and their beauty and spirit reflected something he deeply admired.
More than anything, Roger loved his family. He was a proud father and grandfather whose greatest joy came from those he loved. His family will forever remember his steady presence, his quiet wisdom, and the unconditional love he gave throughout his life.
He is preceded in death by his mother Edna Nall and his father, Elmer Sherrard, his brothers, Clifford and Leeroy Sherrard, and a very special aunt, Hazel Nall and parental figure.
Roger is survived by his son, David Sherrard; his daughter and son-in-law, Dana Sherrard (Travis) his beloved grandchildren, Meadow Renae and Lucas, two sisters Brenda and Linda, who brought immeasurable joy to his life; and his former wife, Charlotte Sherrard, whose care, compassion, and support during his illness reflected the love and respect they continued to share as family. He also leaves behind many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory.
In his final days, Roger was surrounded by the love of his family and the prayers of countless people who hoped alongside them. Though their hearts are broken, they find comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering and has found perfect peace in the presence of the Lord.
Roger’s life was a reminder that strength is often found in quiet moments, love is shown through actions, and family is life’s greatest blessing. His legacy will live on in the memories he created, the values he instilled, and the love that continues to bind his family together.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, therapists, and caregivers who cared for Roger with compassion and dignity throughout his journey, and to every person who offered prayers, encouragement, and support during this difficult time.
A visitation will be held at Brown Funeral Home on Wednesday July 15, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm, with a funeral services to follow on Thursday July 16, at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church beginning at 10:00 am. Burial will take place at St James Cemetery.
Dad, thank you for your love, your sacrifices, and the example you set. You fought with incredible courage, and we are forever grateful for every moment we shared with you. While our hearts ache in your absence, we rejoice knowing you are healed, at peace, and running free. Until we meet again, we will carry you in our hearts every single day.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” — 2 Timothy 4:7
