

Shirley Jo Mays, passed away on January 13, 2026, at the age of 89. Born on November 13, 1936, in Green County Kentucky to the late, Thomas and Opal Pendleton. Shirley lived a life full of love, creativity, and exploration.
Shirley was a member of the Elizabethtown Women's Club and the Red Hat Club. Her talent in sewing was recognized when she won the State Sewing Competition. She was also a former member of Memorial United Methodist Church. Alongside her husband, Randall, Shirley was an avid traveler, exploring 47 of the 50 states. Her passion for sewing was evident in the beautiful clothes she made for her family.
She was preceded in passing by her beloved husband of 29 years, James Randall Mays; her great-granddaughter, Caitlin West; and her sisters, Doris Wilson and Betty Waddell. Shirley is survived by her sons, Chris Marcum (Sharon) and Bill Marcum (Unay); her siblings, Peggy Sullivan, Charles Pendleton (Shelia), Pat McMahon (Mo), and David Pendleton (Pam); her grandchildren, Katina West (Arlo), Kristen Gullo (Matt), and Sami Jo Johnson (Jordan); her great-grandchildren, Dylan, Cecily, Ellie, June, Finn, and Evey Jo; and her great-great-granddaughter, Leah.
A visitation will be held on January 18, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm at Brown Funeral Home, located at 306 College St., Elizabethtown, Kentucky, 42701. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm at the same location. Shirley will be laid to rest at Hardin Memorial Park.
Shirley's adventurous spirit and love for her family will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
