

He was born at Fort Knox and grew up in Elizabethtown. He was employed at E’town Small Engine, Inc. as a mechanic. Thomas was also a proud veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Baxter Oakes Sr. and Anita Oakes-Coffman; a sister, Martha “Marty” Linda Bullock; and a brother, Joseph “Joe Bear” Oakes Jr.
Survivors include his sister, Betty Jo (John) Dahlhauser of Glendale; four nieces and nephews, Trent (Sara) Bullock, Corie (David) Millis, Cassie Kurtz, and Chessie (Alex) Thalacker; and six great-nieces and nephews, Carsten and Jacob Kurtz, Breanna and Jake Bullock, Reagan Spruill, and Alicia De La Fuente.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, 2025, from 4pm – 8pm with a Memorial Service at 7pm all held at Brown Funeral Home, 306 College Street, Elizabethtown, KY 42701. A private burial will be held on a later date.
