

Dr. Brassine was born September 20, 1936, in Sistersville, West Virginia to Florent and Marguerite Brassine and raised in Clarksburg, West Virginia. He was a 1954 graduate of Washington Irving High School in Clarksburg and a1963 graduate of West Virginia University Medical School. After serving in the US Army, he began his career as an OBGYN in Springfield, Ohio, joining Dr. David Smith’s practice in the fall of 1969 then opening his own practice in Elizabethtown in December 1972.
He served as the Medical Chief of Staff at Hardin Memorial Hospital in 1982, and Chief of the OBGYN Department in 1988. After delivering thousands of babies in Hardin County and the surrounding counties, he retired in December 1998 to enjoy the warmth of Estero, Florida.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Roberta Larson.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 11 years, Karen Hall Brassine of Elizabethtown, KY; his sister, Mary Fern Horch of Columbus, OH; his children; Marianne Fouts (Ken) of Bridgeport, WV, David Brassine (Liz) of Ponte Vedra, FL, Kathy Vogt (Mark) of Louisville, KY, Karen Dohoney (John) of Sellersburg, IN, William “Bill” Brassine II (Krista) of Walton, KY, and Robert “Bobby” Brassine (Courtney) of Lexington, KY; and stepchildren, Jessica Lewis (Paul) of Shepherdsville, KY and Nathan Hall of Louisville, KY.
In addition, he is survived by his many grandchildren, Benjamin Fouts (Michaela), Michael Fouts, Mark Alex Vogt, Tyler Dohoney, Matthew Vogt, Ryan Dohoney, Reaghan Brassine, William “Will” Brassine III, Liam Brassine, Preston Brassine, Andrew Brassine; his step- grandchildren, Melanie Lewis, Allyson Lewis, Cody Hall, and Sadie Hall; and 5 great- grandchildren.
The family would like to extend gratitude to his caretakers over the past year: Kelly Clark, Karina Neal, and Nancy Shores.
Funeral mass will be at 11 AM on Friday, December 19th at St. James Catholic Church.
Burial follows in St. James Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 PM on Thursday, December 18th at Brown Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association in his honor.
