She was born August 24, 1930 in Williamsburg, Michigan to James ‘Albert’ Stites and Martha ‘Macy’ Samels.
Alice attended Williamsburg schools, and graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1948.
She married her husband Mitchell Sinko on March 27, 1949 and together they raised four daughters.
She was a longtime resident of Williamsburg, and was active in the Williamsburg American Legion, the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Williamsburg United Methodist Church where she was the substitute organist. She also enjoyed sewing, and all kinds of music, Pat Boone being one of her favorites. Her primary focus, however, was being a mom, and spending time with her family.
Alice is survived by her daughters Judy Eckert(Roger Hunt) of Stanton, MI; Christine (Kim) Hamlin of Farwell, MI; Michelle (Douglas) White of Williamsburg, MI; Cheryl (Matt) Deal of Englewood, FL., Grandchildren Heather (David) Fisher, Matthew Hamlin, Troy (Jennifer) Eckert, Cassie Eckert, Suzann (Peter) Pietrangelo, Lindsey (Zac) Alden, Michael White, Allison Deal; her great-grandchildren Jill Place; Matthew, Andrew, Lukas and Olivia Fisher; Zach, Morgan and Gary Eckert Jr.; Alex and Sam Pietrangelo; Rory Linn Alden as well as three great-great grandchildren. Also surviving are her siblings Anthony ‘Wayne’ Stites and Bertha Powell.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, who died September 27, 2002, siblings; Clinton Sr., Harold, William, Louis, & Irwin Stites, Dorothy Rancour, Beatrice Wight, and also a stillborn daughter.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, August 27, 2018 at 1:00 p.m at the Covell Funeral Home, 312 Pine Street in Elk Rapids with visitation beginning at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Jack Conklin will officiate the service.
Interment will be at Williamsburg Cemetery.
