He was born July 4, 1953, in Traverse City, to Narcizo Alvardo and Mary Wilson Moby. He was adopted at the age of nine by the Rev. Richard and Marilyn Fairbrother.
Chuck graduated from Brethren High School, where he was All-State in track, football and basketball.
He joined the U.S. Marines in 1972 and served on a battleship guarding the Rear Admiral.
On Feb. 14, 1987, Chuck married Renee Hosler in Cadillac. Together they raised four children.
Chuck was a jack-of-all-trades and a master of none. He was always willing to give a helping hand with anything anyone needed.
He was often found spreading the word of God to anyone who would listen. He enjoyed camping and building bonfires in his back yard.
He will be lovingly missed by his wife of 24 years, Renee; children, Dannielle, Damon, Zephaniah, Paula, Andria and Serena, all of Traverse City; siblings, Robert Wallo, of Augusta, Ga., Krissy Yakel, of Iron Mountain, and Anna Marie Smith, of Traverse City; survivors of the Fairbrother family include siblings, Dalene, Jerilene, Marloon and Brian; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Chuck was preceded in death by both his biological parents and his adoptive parents.
A wake will be held today, May 12, 2011, starting at 6 p.m., and going until the time of service Friday, May 13, 2011, at 2 p.m., all at the Kewadin Indian Mission Methodist Church in Kewadin. Cremation will follow. A military honors burial will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the church.
