

Geneva Belle “Jeannie” Hanna, age 89, of Williamsburg passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, November 4, 2016. She was born July 5, 1927 in Homestead Township to Marion and Kitty Belle (Hull) Henry.
Jeannie married the late William V. Hanna on August 26, 1946 in Traverse City. Together they raised 6 children. Jeannie worked all her life in the health care profession. She worked as a nurse’s aid, both, in the state hospital and several nursing homes in the area. She was also a devoted care taker to several terminally ill family members over the years.
In her spare time, Jeannie was an avid gardener. Landscaping was a real passion for Jeannie, everything from vegetables to flowers, trees, bushes, and fish ponds were lovingly tended to on her property.
She will be greatly missed by her sons: Gene (Patricia) Hanna of Williamsburg and Dan (Kathleen) Hanna of Williamsburg; daughters: Sue (William) Ellis of Kalkaska, Sally (Al) Gross of Kalkaska, and Cindy (Nick) Hall of Acme Township; a brother Skip (Winnie) Henry, step brother David Henry and a step sister Pat Moore; 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Jeannie was preceded in death by her husband William, son William J., and three brothers.
A funeral will be held Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids with visitation one hour prior.
Jeannie will be laid to rest next to her husband, William, at Acme Township Cemetery on November 9, 2016 at 2:30 p.m.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Elk Rapids.
