

Lawrence Edwin Rickfelder, age 83, of Elk Rapids passed away peacefully at home, Thursday, January 12, 2017. He was born April 10, 1933 in Detroit to Lawrence and Margaret (Fagan) Rickfelder. Larry grew up in Ferndale and attended St. James School. He graduated in 1951 from Cathedral High in Denver. He served in the Army during the Korean war. After his discharge, Larry married Joanna Clinton on September 24, 1955 in Royal Oak. He went on to finish his degree at Eastern Michigan University.
He loved to travel and did everything on his bucket list.
Larry will be greatly missed by his wife of 61 years, his children: Terry Murphy of Elk Rapids, Jean (Al) Marusak of Atlanta, GA, James (Jill) of Kewadin, and John (Julie) of Grand Haven, as well as 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren, and a brother, Alan (Daisy) of Farmington.
A visitation will be held Sunday, January 15, 2017 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. with a vigil service to be prayed at 7p.m. at Covell Funeral Home in Elk Rapids. A mass from the Order of Christian Funerals will be celebrated Monday, January 16, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church , Rev. Robert J. Zuchowski presiding.
Memorial contributions may be made to Michigan Hospice or Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Elk Rapids.
