Margaret A. Krogel, age 83 of Williamsburg died Sunday, August 12, 2018 at Grand Traverse Pavilions. Margaret was born April 9, 1935 in Elk Rapids, Michigan and spend her childhood there, then graduating from Elk Rapids High School. On September 5, 1953 in Kewadin she married Donald Krogel. He preceded her in death in 2008.
They lived a good amount of time downstate and moved back to the area from Benton Harbor. She has then been an Elk Rapids resident for the past 24 years. Margaret was known to many as “the walker”, as she was very religious in her daily walks out and about.
She is survived by her daughter Cindy (Gary) Smith, grandchildren; Misty Krogel, Ricky (Vaneesa) Peek, Crystal (Robert) Weager, Ryan (Kylie Svoree) Smith, and several great-grandchildren; Angel, Heather, Anthony, Matthew, Jacob, and Kayden. She is also survived by her brother John (Janet) Couturier, and brother and sister in laws Gene (Betsy) Krogel, Dan (Donna) Krogel and Grace Krogel. Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter Terri Sewell and brother Bud Couturier.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Williamsburg United Methodist Church, 5750 Williamsburg Rd., Pastor Jack Conklin officiating. The family will greet visitors at the church beginning at 1:00 p.m.
Interment of her cremains will take place at Northshore Memory Gardens in Hager Shore, MI.
