Marie Agnes McIntyre

Marie McIntyre, 94, of Elk Rapids died Monday April 9, 2018 at Cherry Suite Assisted Living in Elk Rapids, Michigan. She was born on February 15, 1924 in Beal City, Michigan, the daughter of Mary and John Reihl. Marie graduated from Providence Nursing School where she earned her degree as an RN. Marie married Donald McIntyre on May 11, 1946 in Beal City.

She practiced nursing in Almont, Michigan, and later in Ann Arbor, at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital. She retired after her private nursing assignments, at Paul Oliver Hospital,in Frankfort. She and Don resided in Almont, Dexter, and Frankfort, before moving to Elk Rapids, in 1982, where they enjoyed their retirement.

Marie's love of God and devout faith compelled her to be actively involved in Sacred Heart Church in Elk Rapids. Marie was also active in PEO, Garden Club, and Friends of the Library, and in particular she enjoyed her time outside gardening and taking special care of her beautiful yard at her home on Elk Lake. She is survived by her children, Charlotte and Charles Coy of Elk Rapids, Michael and Susan McIntyre of Elk Rapids, Mary Kay and Mark Lancaster of Petoskey, and Thomas McIntyre and Frank Parker of Logan Utah, 10 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren, as well as the proprietors and staff of Cherry Suite, Melanie White, Michelle and Loren Ulrich, and Rebecca Atkinson, who provided her with loving care and nurturing.

Visitation was held Monday, April 16, 2018, 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church in Elk Rapids. Mass from the Order of Christian Funerals was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, April 16, 2018, Rev. Robert J. Zuchowski presiding.

Memorial contributions were made to the Elk Rapids Community Cupboard or Heartland Hospice.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Elk Rapids chapel of Covell Funeral Homes.
