among loved ones.
She was born June 30, 1920 in Hibbing, Minnesota, the daughter of the late Myrtle and Frank Milnor. She
was the oldest, and last surviving, of four siblings.
Those who had the pleasure of knowing Patricia delighted in her kind, yet no-nonsense demeanor
and her wonderful cooking. She had a great sense of humor, intelligent and biting, and made, among other things, cookies that could change your whole day. She was fiercely independent, driving until she was 86 and living on her own until the age of 96. She was remarkable for her ability to develop
new hobbies and skills, from knitting afghans for grandchildren to wiring speaker systems for her son-in-law. All her life, she loved books and reading, making her a wonder at the New York Times crossword puzzle. She volunteered, then worked, at the Elk Rapids District Library until she was 86 years old.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Robert Sullivan of Traverse City, MI; her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Thomas Dionne of Elk Rapids; grandchildren, Allen Sullivan of Covington, KY; Sarah Fisher of Traverse City, MI; Nate Dionne (Ami) of Boyne City, MI; Helen Looney (Sean) of Phnom Penh, Cambodia; Jesse Dionne (Lisa) of Grand Rapids, MI; nine great
grandchildren and a six-toed cat named Tootsie.
She absolutely loved warm summer days and a good cup of black coffee. She hated cilantro and lengthy obituaries.
A special note of gratitude to the staff of Cherry Suite who coddled and comforted her and welcomed her beloved Tootsie into their home.
Her family will be holding a private memorial in the spring. Memorial contributions in her name to the Elk Rapids District Library, an institution and place she loved very much, are welcomed.
Arrangements under the direction of Covell Funeral Home, Elk Rapids, MI.
