Raymond met his wife, Beverly (Beattie) of 63 years, at their Alma Mater, Alma College. They went on to have five children, 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren whom Ray loved and cherished.
Ray is survived by his wife Beverly, children: Bruce, (Cindy), Richard, (Valencia), Katherine, (Al), John, (Rhonda), Brenda, (Conne), his grandchildren, great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews that Ray truly adored.
Razor spent many hours at his workbench tinkering with odds and ends, creating for himself and others - hence the nickname, Sharp as a “Razor” which came from his children many years ago due to the ingenious items he created! This name carried throughout his life as his close friends and loved ones referred to him as “Razor.”
His grandson Christopher sums it up best- “As Raymond Lee Banwell celebrates his great feast, a man who was uncompromisingly himself to the very end and manipulated his environment to better fit his vision at every chance, I know I will see him, one day, at the crossroads.”
Razor loved nature, animals and the beauty that northern Michigan offered. Donations would be appreciated to the Michigan Humane Society www.michiganhumane.org
