

Ron was born in Detroit on August 10, 1926, the son of Percy and Ethel (Long) Jones. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Army. On December 17, 1955 Ron married Jacqueline “Jackie” Greenwood. Ron was Vice-President of CMI where he started out as a print boy and advanced to Vice-President. AT CMI he was the General Foundry Manager, which included engineering, designing, and sales. Some of Ron’s hobbies include being a pilot, a Ham Radio operator, he enjoyed building radio controlled airplanes, and antique automobiles. He was a member of the EEA (experimental aircraft association). He also was a Volunteer Fireman in Dearborn. He co-owned the Torch Port Airpark and “Java Jones” coffee shop. Ron truly loved his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Jackie Jones of Elk Rapids, one son David (Kathryn) Jones of Kewadin, two daughters; Lynne (Scott) Morrison of Rapid City, Tamara Jones of Elk Rapids, and one daughter-in-law Lainey Holmes, (12) grandchildren; Eric, Heather, Dustin, Kirsten, Tony, Jacquilyn, Mindy, Jamie, Faun, Falon, Jamie, and Jadrian, and (9) great-grandchildren , his sister Audrey Lau of Williamsburg, his niece Valkerie Rozema, and his nephew John (Kathy) Lau.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents. His son Dale Jones and nephew Andy Bussa.
Full Military Honors will be held on Sunday January 30, 2011 at 1pm at Covell Funeral Home, with visitation one hour prior.
Memorials may be given in Ron’s name to Antrim County Commission on aging, Munson Hospice, or Community Cupboard. Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home, Elk Rapids.
