I remember when I was a little kid my mother would bring me to the Cabin just outside of Elk Rapids. Uncle Scott was always the kind of uncle to actually play with me as a kid and take an interest in my life. Often times my father was not around during the summer time so in a house filled with many women I always found it very cool that I had an Uncle that I could always hang out with. Especially considering that Scott had three children of his own I found it especially memorable that he would go out of his way to make sure I was having a good time, or that I was able to have fun. I remember fondly how he would often pilot the boat at the cabin and take us out tubing, or jet skiing. Not having many other solid male presences in my life at the time I realize how incredibly lucky I was to have had Scott's presence and influence in my life, especially during my years as a younger child. He helped me develop what I would refer to as midwestern values. I am very proud to carry Scott as my middle name, I miss him very much.

I just heard of Scott's passing and I am very sad. He was kind and gentle and loved all of you.  Scott was a great boss and I will cherish my memories of his gentle ways in life.  Paula, I know he was absolutely the love of your life - hang in there, search for the signs he will send to you.

Dearest family, I loved Scott for many reasons, but mostly because of how much he so obviously loved all of you.  Scott had a way of making everyone whose life he touched feel special.  My prayer for all of you is that you will feel peace in your heart when you remember all of the wonderful times you spent with Scott.  Neill and Joan, Scott was the man he was because of you and your wonderful, loving example.  Your devotion to family and to each other touched my heart.  Cindy, Karen, Susan, and Kristen, you were blessed to have such a kind and considerate brother.  He loved you very much.  My dear sister, Paula, your marriage was what a marriage was meant to be - a sharing of souls.  I wish you could have had more years together.  My heart aches for you.  Jenna, Derek, and Jared - you kids meant the world to your dad and he was SO proud of all of you.  You all have a special part of your dad living inside of you.  I love you all.

I was absolutely shocked when I read Scott's obituary in this week's Elk Rapids News.  Scott & Paula were my very first clients when I began my real estate career in 2001.  I think I had been in the business less than a week when I sold them a vacant lot on Joe Marks Trail. Needless to say, one's first in anything will always be remembered.  My thoughts and prayers go out to Paula and the family.  Words are never easy to come by when someone so young is taken from us, so I'll simply close with this thought; Cherish the Memories.

I had the pleasure of working with Scott. He was a true professional,a gentleman and a pleasure to work with. He faced his health challenge with a courage that was simply inspiring. He will be missed.

I was a classmate of Scott's at Parkside HS. I remember him as a great guy! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.
