

Sue Ellen Flowers, age 64, of Williamsburg passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2012. She was born October 18, 1947 in Alma to Myron and Wanda (Upham) Humphrey. She was a 1965 graduate of St. Johns’ school and earned her Bachelor’s in Elementary Education from Central Michigan University, where she was involved in the cheer leading squad. She went on to receive her Masters degree in Curriculum Instruction.
On June 15, 1968 Sue married Larry Flowers in St. Johns. Together they raised 2 children. She taught in the Hartland Consolidated School district for 30 years. Upon retirement Sue and Larry moved to Williamsburg. She was an active member of the P.E.O., an Elder at the First Presbyterian Church in Elk Rapids, President of the Habitat for Humanity of Antrim County for 6 years, and a member of several bridge groups. Sue also enjoyed yoga, any type of arts and crafts, and was an amazing decorator. She will be fondly remembered for her incredible cooking and entertaining.
Sue will be greatly missed by her husband Larry, mother Wanda Humphrey of Elk Rapids, Children: Brett (Molly) Flowers of Evansville, IN and Amanda Flowers of Traverse City, 2 grandchildren: Burke and Anabelle; a brother Randy (Melanie) Humphrey of Estes Park, CO, 3 nieces and a brother-in-law Steven Flowers of Brighton
She was preceded in death by her father Myron and a brother Todd Humphrey.
A memorial service will be held Monday, August 27, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 404 Spruce St., Elk Rapids.
