We are so very sorry that our dear, kind, patient Bill is no longer with us! We really, really miss him! He was ALWAYS so very nice to everybody! May it be a tiny bit comforting to know that our dear Bill is now happy in heaven with his Creator, never to have to suffer the pains of this world! In other words, we know that Bill is happier than we are! May God bless you and your dear family and know that we are always here for you.

Bill and I were very close as children. Bill was 7 and I was 11 when when he was struck by a car crossing the highway after church.  I kept Bills photo and a picture of Jesus under my pillow and prayed and prayed. He was in a coma for almost a week but he pulled through. 
Before we found our partners in life we would go disco dancing together enjoying the lit up dance floor and strobe lights flashing all around us.  Bill held the tiny fingers of my first born, Johnny and Bill and Debbie were at my second son's Christening.
Bill met Debbie during the time we all loved going to Moms home in Pearl River, Louisiana for weekends and holidays where the girls cooked and the guys worked on cars and motorcycles. We played badminton on sunny days and cards and pool on rainy days. No video games back then. Debbie became a lifelong friend.
Much later in life as careers developed and Bill moved to Baltimore Bill would come home for visits and pull the whole family together like Mom did when she was alive.
Bills personality was one that was open to new places, new things, new friends and family. But he never forgot his old friends as far back as elementary school. He would always visit them when he came back to New Orleans and insist we all get together.
Linda and her large Italian family became a large support for Bill in his mid  years. Bill and  Linda vacationed together a lot when they were younger and spent much time together as they grew older. They loved to go out to eat those great crab cakes, steaks and salads in Baltimore. Bill loved good food. Even in the hospital he ordered out a Pepsi and a sandwich. We got a good laugh out of that.
Bill and I spoke on the phone a lot. Bill was a loving brother and a great friend. I will miss him terribly. You left us too soon. So unexpected. We all loved Bill, but God loved him more. He had to leave. Until we meet again.

This one of Bill and me at my wedding to Donald Seruntine got mold on the edges due to Hurricane Katrina damage. Donny was jealous because I got an 8x10 made of it. But Donny wore sunglasses and a beard on our wedding day. So, less face it there wasn't much of his pretty face to show. I was a hairdresser and I cut Bills long hippie hair off and there was a handsome guy underneath. No offence Donny.

Bill ran that boat all over the bay that day. No luck catching fish. Bill was better at boating than fishing. Love you Bill. 

My text to my son Peter in California: Debbie was too upset to say words she wanted to express. Guy said, " with her mother gone Bill was her family". She did have a best girlfriend with her to support her after we all leave. I met one of Bills friends of 39 years. Don and his wife Sherri were wonderful people. I could tell Don really loved Bill by the mischievous stories he told. He was one of the pole bearers. 
Today was very hard. I broke down.  Guy comforted me. I remember saying to him, "even the children are crying" as Linda's youngest granddaughter walked by Bills casket. Linda and her sister Sadie held things together, but I could hear by the little breaks in her voice that Linda will have a hard time after the formalities are over.
There were approximately 50 people attending including Santos and two other of Bills employees. I was glad to meet them. Bill gave them the break they needed and Bill taught them the business like how to read plans and make the bids etc. Then they earned Bill a lot of money. Bill had a wonderful life because of their efforts and disciplined work ethic. 
The ceremonies were beautiful and his burial was heavenly. The cemetery grounds were lush and green and a sunny day with a wonderful breeze blowing under the canopy. His burial site next to a huge tree. I do wish you could have been there,Peter. Even a jet flew overhead as if to wish Bill farewell.
Guy held on to me as we crossed the lawn to leave and I yelled back, "see you later Bill". I was devastated because I knew it was the last time I would see him in this life.
Emile didn't make it. His whole family down with COVID but we were in touch by phone.

My Uncle Bill was as genuine as they come!  He was patriotic, passionate about music and life, and when you were his friend he was a loyal friend.  
He helped a lot of families of the men and women that worked for him make better lives for themselves and genuinely cared that they did.
He shared, with the whole family, a deep love for the water and boating and I had many opportunities to be on the water with him when I'm was in high school and lived with him.  He was FEARLESS on the water to the point of being DANGEROUS at times because he loved to push the envelope and live life to it's fullest.  
We were sailing his Nacra 18 Catamaran one Saturday on Lake Ponchartrain and IT WAS WINDY!  Well we were FLYING and flying a hull and Bill would get this CRAZED look in his eyes and HE HAD IT!  We were both sitting out on the side rail that's there so you can hold the flying hull down and he had the Tiller and control of the Sail and when the hulls were almost completely vertical I gave him one last look and he just laughed at me!
So I let go and went over backwards to keep from getting thrown into the mast(and because we were going over anyway!) and Bill went flying forward as the boat flipped over cursing me the whole way through the air!  
It was all in good fun and we righted the boat ourselves and sailed the rest of the day.  But those moments really defined my Uncle and how he lived his life.  If Bill Songy was going to do something, he was going ALL THE WAY!  
And from making his fortune in Construction, to producing the music he loved to play, he always did.  I'll truly miss him.   
I'm away in California to be with my daughter and Grandson to be, but I love you all and hope to see you again soon.
My deepest love and condolences to you Guy, Mom, Emile, his wife Linda and of course his friend for life, and MINE TOO, Debbie Mattes.  Miss you Debbie!

“Hey Mike, whatcha doing”? That’s how every phone call started. William shall forever remain my best and dearest friend. I will forever cherish the five decades of memories and our times together. No words I say nor prayer I pray can bring William back. 
We all know sooner or later everyone faces grief over the loss of a loved one…and now together I mourn with you the family and friends of our beloved William. Absent from the body…at home with the Lord. No more pain. No  more suffering, No more sorrow. It is my prayer that the Holy Spirit brings comfort to us all as we mourn the loss of William, and that the hugs and tears of friends and family bring solace to our hearts.  
“Hey Bill, next time we meet, I’ll be sure to bring along a couple of shrimp po-boys, drug troo da gawden, (that means “dressed” to you Northerners…with all the fixins), and a couple of cold beers. 
Till we meet again dear friend. Rest in peace.

Bill you are the most generous kind man around I sure will miss our get-togethers with the family or whatever I came over to clean and we would get on our little talks and I wouldn't get my cleaning done I hope you're up and having and enjoying your time with your loved ones like your mom dad and  your brother Wayne. I cry every time I even mention Bill's name! Can't believe he is no longer with us! This is beyond sad! Life is really rough! :-( I am so glad I was with him when he took his last breath and went to Heaven! I had my finger on his carotid artery, trying to feel a pulse!
